ILMfan Status Update

OK before the rumors get out of hand I guess I should post something. My intention was to do this when I made the forums read only, but life has interesting ways getting in the way.

Anyway here's the deal. The big problem started not long after SIGGRAPH when the power supply of my work computer went kaput. That made me fall behind on the updating. Later I also lost the partitions on the hard drive where all ILMfan's files are. There were things I didn't have a backup of, although I knew the data was intact (I hosed the partitions because of a very stupid mistake). Anyway by the time I fixed that I was hopelessly way behind. Coupled with some issues at work and in my personal life, made it impossible for me to update the site. To give you an idea there were sites I check for news that I didn't visit for 9 months. The forums here I didn't check at times for months (except to see they were operational and fix the spam registrations). Things were so crazy I didn't even have time to buy Cinefex (don't have the Pirates 2 issue yet).

That's why I asked for help on a couple of occasions. As I mention from time to time, the main site is the most important part of ILMfan. I realized the forums would become a hindrance to update the main site, so I decided to make them read only before any flooding of posts because of the Oscar win. My plan was to start preparing the updates back then but unfortunately it wasn't possible. It wasn't until this week (actually this weekend) that I have started preparing things to update the main site.

In the meantime the forums will remain read only. I won't reactivate them until I feel I have a handle on the update process, so don't even start asking when they'll be back, I have no idea.

In the meantime if people want to help to make this happen faster, please email me (don't PM since I wont be checking that except when I compile news from the forums).

Please refer to the Admin Announcements forum for updates regarding the status of ILMfan. I'm currently working on the site to bring it back to its former glory as soon as humanly possible.
