The lineup for eDIT/VES 2002 has been recently been posted and ILM will
have three presentations: two for Attack of the Clones and one for Men in
Black 2. Other presentation include Spider-Man and Stuart Little 2
(Imageworks), Dinotopia (Framestore/CFC), Reign of Fire (The Secret Lab)
and the games and film talk (Electronic Arts).
VES 2002 Will Have ILM Alumni Dave Carson and Henry LaBounta

The details of the last session of VES 2002 are now up and two ILM
alumni will be among the presenters: Dave Carson and Henry LaBounta. The
session discusses the convergence of video games and films.
VES 2002 Completes Schedule with VFX Legends and Luminaries

VES has almost completed updating it festival schedule and as always
there are many more great speakers. Some include legends like Ray
Harryhausen himself and many pioneers like Doug Trumbull, Tom Porter, Rocco
Gioffre and Mark Stetson. Also ILM Animation Supervisor Dan Taylor will
make an appearance.
VES has just posted the schedule for the Visual Effects Festival. Rob
Coleman will present on Saturday, while John Knoll, Pablo Helman and Ben
Snow will present on Sunday. Additionally John Dykstra, the original Star
Wars supervisor, will present the VFX work for Spider-Man on Friday.
VES Festival 2002 to Have Huge Coverage of Episode 2 Work

The VES Festival website has recently been updated and now includes the
schedule of their program for this years Festival. There will be 10
presentations, with 4 dedicated to ILM, all 4 to the work on Episode 2. In
addition there will be a talks on Spider-Man, Black Hawk Down, a
retrospective on Pixar, an interview with FX legend Doug Trumbull, a
retrospective on Blade Runner, and an event called 'Creating the
Character'.
The Visual Effects Society has updated both their website and the
specific one for the VES Visual FX Festival 2002. The festival will take
place in San Rafael, CA (current home of ILM), as was announced during the
past festival, from June 14 till June 16.
The Visual Effects Society will screen Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes
on August 7 in LA, and FX supervisor Bill George will be on hand for a
Q&A session.
The recently concluded VES 2001 Festival of Visual Effects concluded
this past Sunday, June 24, 2001. Again this year several ILM projects were
showcased and several other current and former ILM guys were on hand
presenting their magic. The two main ILM projects that were presented was
the work on The Mummy Returns and Pearl Harbor, both big events at the
festival. But probably nothing was more impressive than the Star Wars
(original) and Close Encounters of the Third Kind reunion, a virtual who's
who of FX pioneers.
VES, the Visual Effects Society, has just announced their program for
this years Festival of Visual Effects. The festival runs from June 22nd
till June 24, in Los Angeles.
On July 14th-16th, ILM will be discussing the political ramifications of
the US Senate's recent vote on Senate Joint Resolutions 5. no of course
not, just checking to see if you were paying attention. They'll be speaking
about what they always speak about, visual effects. A
whole host of people will be there; Stefen Fangmeier will be there
discussing The Perfect Storm, and some ex-ILMer's will be there too (Neil
Krepela and others).
