ILM will be interviewing candidates for FX and Lighting TDs and Shake and Inferno compositors in Los Angeles this Wednesday December 6, 2006.
Digital Matte Painting Artist Jonathan Harb will speak at the CGOverdrive 2006 Conference, which takes place in Singapore July 14-16, 2006. He will talk about the new Digital Artist Group in the Singapore Lucasfilm Animation unit, which will work alongside ILM.
Chief model maker Lorne Peterson will make an appearance at the Marin County Fair on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 2pm.
Senior VFX Supervisor Dennis Muren will be one of the panelists of a special screening of Equinox at the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 8pm. There will also be a DVD signing session afterwards.
Digital Compositor Todd Vaziri will talk about the invisible effects in Mission: Impossible III at the Silicon Valley SIGGRAPH Chapter, this Thursday June 22, 2006 8pm.
Former ILM animator Carlos Baena and former Star Wars prequels artists Feng Zhu and Dan Gregoire will participate at the CG Overdrive 2006 conference. It will take place in Singapore July 14-16, 2006.
VFX Supervisor and Lead R&D Engineer Christophe Hery will give a presentation will give a talk about synthesizing human skin at the fmx/06 Conference, on Friday May 05, 2006 5-6pm. There will be presenters from studios like Imageworks, Pixar, DreamWorks, Double Negative, Rhythm and Hues, Scanline, Aardman, Framestore CFC, The Moving Picture Company, Weta Digital, Digital Domain, The Orphanage, Kleiser-Walczak and Disney.
The Visual Effects Society and the Los Angeles SIGGRAPH Chapter are sponsoring the "Experiential Narrative in Games and Film" on March 25, 2006 10am at the Digital Cinema Laboratory at the Pacific Hollywood Theater. Former ILM VFX Supervisor and current EA Art Director Habib Zargarpour will be one of the panelists.
Mimi Abers, a compositor at ILM, has a sculpture exhibit entitled "The Follies of Old Age" at the Gallery Route One at Point Reyes Station. The exhibit will be on display till March 26, 2006.
Hollywood's Master Storytellers will host the VFX team of War of the Worlds this Thursday February 16, 2006 at 7:30 pm at Mann's Chinese Theatres Complex at Hollywood & Highland. VFX Supervisors Dennis Muren and Pablo Helman, Animation Supervisor Randy Dutra and Special Effects Coordinator Daniel Sudick will talk about the work in the film.
ILM will be recruiting TDs, Creature TDs, Senior Inferno Artists, and Compositors in Los Angeles around mid-February, 2006.
John Lasseter, former member of the Lucasfilm CG Group and cofounder of Pixar, will give a presentation at the New York Museum of Modern Art Friday December 16, 2005 at 6:30pm about the creative process at Pixar. The museum will have a Pixar retrospective exhibit from December 14, 2005 till February 6, 2006.

Florian Kainz, R&D Principal Engineer at ILM, will be a speaker at the Orlando SIGGRAPH Chapter "Focus on Technology" event, this November 19, 2005.
Animation Supervisor Eric Armstrong, who has worked at ILM and Imageworks, visited East Tennessee State University to present his Academy Award winning short The ChubbChubbs! and discussed his career and the animation industry.
VFXWorld.com and VFXBlog.com reported on an updated eDIT/VES 2005 program which included two presentation by ILM on Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith and War of the Worlds. Other projects covered include Sin City, Batman Begins, Kingdom of Heaven, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Brothers Grimm and a conversation with Phil Tippett.
Animation Director Rob Coleman will discuss the creation of digital characters at the Museum of Science in Boston on November 4, 2005, which recently opened the exhibit Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination.

The AEAF Sydney 2005 program has been update. Besides Rob Coleman discussing Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith, there will be talks covering such projects as King Kong, Zathura, The Narnia Chronicles: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and a day in the life of a Pixar TD, among others.
Former ILM member Todd Widup will be teaching an introductory course in MEL scripting, as part of the CGSociety Workshops. The course will take place between November 6, 2005 and January 9, 2006. Todd Widup worked as a Creature TD in Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith.
